I attended the French class from October to December 2019. During these three months I have experienced a bit of confidence in me. I liked the method of teaching and I really appreciate the bond relationship between professors and the students. So I feel CILFA is the BEST school for the beginners.
J’ai suivi le cours de français d’octobre à décembre 2019. Au cours de ces trois mois, j’ai ressenti un peu de confiance en moi. J’ai aimé la méthode d’enseignement et j’apprécie vraiment la relation de lien entre les professeurs et les étudiants. Donc je pense que le CILFA est la meilleure école pour les débutants.
This is the third time that I have learned French in France and I have found that the quality of teaching at CILFA is the highest. There is a real interest in the students and their study. I enjoyed the time I spent learning and meeting other students.
C’est la troisième fois que j’apprends le français en France et j’ai constaté que la qualité de l’enseignement au CILFA est la plus élevée. Il y a un véritable intérêt pour les étudiants et leur étude. J’ai apprécié le temps que j’ai passé à apprendre et à rencontrer d’autres étudiants.
I have always had an interest in learning French, and I decided to do it later in life (mid-40s). I researched several French schools and selected CILFA for many reasons: small class size, greater average student age, smaller city, and proximity to family. I spent two months there in the summer of 2019 and had wished I could stay longer. The entire staff is very welcoming and dedicated to helping each student improve their French skills. My experience extended beyond the classroom, with the many activities in the picturesque town of Annecy and the many friends I made from all over the globe. It was such a rewarding experience that I am planning a return trip in the summer of 2020.
J’ai toujours eu de l’intérêt pour apprendre le français et j’ai décidé de le faire plus tard dans ma vie (au milieu de la quarantaine). J’ai fait des recherches dans plusieurs écoles de français et j’ai choisi le CILFA pour plusieurs raisons : petite taille des classes, âge moyen des élèves plus élevé, ville plus petite et proximité de la famille. J’y ai passé deux mois en été 2019 et j’aurais souhaité pouvoir rester plus longtemps. L’ensemble du personnel est très accueillant et dévoué à aider chaque étudiant à améliorer ses compétences en français. Mon expérience s’est étendue au-delà de la salle de classe, avec les nombreuses activités dans la pittoresque ville d’Annecy et les nombreux amis que je me suis fait du monde entier. Ce fut une expérience tellement enrichissante que je prévois d’y retourner en été 2020.

CILFA provided me with the best possible opportunity to significantly improve my French in merely four weeks. The average class size is small, the professors are patient and understanding, and the weekly excursions are fun and engaging. Furthermore, my classmates came from all over the world–from Ireland to India, from Spain to Japan. Communicating with my diverse classmates required all of us to use our lingua franca (pun intended), and this contributed to my immersive learning. I still remember in one class, our professor Virginie asked everyone to write down the same sentences in our native languages, and cross-examine the differences of grammar and syntax between all of them. I enjoyed this activity a lot as a student of international relations, and this shows how CILFA’s global focus enhanced my experience.
Le CILFA m’a fourni la meilleure opportunité possible pour améliorer de manière significative mon français en seulement quatre semaines. La taille moyenne des classes est petite, les professeurs sont patients et compréhensifs, et les excursions hebdomadaires sont amusantes et attrayantes. De plus, mes camarades de classe venaient du monde entier – de l’Irlande à l’Inde, de l’Espagne au Japon. Pour communiquer avec eux, nous devions tous utiliser notre lingua franca (jeu de mots voulu), ce qui a contribué à mon apprentissage immersif. Je me souviens encore quand dans une classe, notre professeur Virginie a demandé à tout le monde d’écrire la même phrase dans nos langues maternelles, et d’analyser transversalement les différences de grammaire et de syntaxe entre toutes. J’ai beaucoup aimé cette activité en tant qu’étudiant en relations internationales et cela montre à quel point l’orientation globale du CILFA a amélioré mon expérience.
Through CILFA, I was able to learn French the fastest and most effective way possible. Classes are composed of 12 students or less so the professors can really focus on teaching every student in the class. They offer free tutorials, phonetics classes, and conversation classes every week so everyone who’s enrolled can work on their weaknesses (or even further improve their strengths). To me, CILFA offers an unparalleled service to its students. I’m highly satisfied with my stay there. If you’re looking for a French language school near Annecy, CILFA is the institution to go for!
I came to CILFA equipped only with my very rusty school-boy French. On top of being really good at making the language accessible, all the teachers at CILFA were extremely friendly. The French teaching I received in the few months I was there was really comprehensive and meant I was able to pass the B1 exam. I really enjoyed learning in a very welcoming and multi-cultural environment. Staying in a beautiful city like Annecy combined with time at CILFA it’s hard to think of a better place to learn French.
Je suis arrivé au CILFA avec mon vieux français très rouillé d’écolier. En plus d’être vraiment compétents pour rendre la langue accessible, tous les enseignants du CILFA étaient extrêmement sympathiques. L’enseignement en français que j’ai reçu dans les quelques mois que j’ai passés là-bas était très complet et m’a permis de réussir l’examen B1. J’ai vraiment aimé apprendre dans un environnement très accueillant et multiculturel. Il est difficile de penser à un meilleur endroit pour apprendre le français que de le faire dans une belle ville comme Annecy et en même temps au CILFA.
Je suis allée au CILFA à Annecy pour la première fois en août 2017. C’était chouette alors j’y suis revenue l’année suivante en juillet 2018. J’avais été dans plusieurs écoles en France mais le CILFA à Annecy est ma préférée. L’école est excellente à tous les niveaux et la ville d’Annecy est très jolie et offre de nombreuses activités de loisir.
The first time I went to CILFA was in August 2017. I had a great time so I returned the following year in July 2018. I have been to several language schools in France but CILFA in Annecy is my favourite. The school is excellent in every way and the small city of Annecy is really gorgeous. There are also a large range of leisure activities available in the immediate area.
Jeg fikk anbefalt CILFA av en tidligere kollega som hadde gode erfaringer med både skolen og vertsfamilien hun hadde hatt. Jeg kan si det samme: jeg bodde hos en veldig hyggelig og erfaren vertsfamilie som gjorde sitt beste for at jeg skulle trives. Skolen holdt høyt faglig nivå, med en grundig plasseringstest første dagen. Vi var en akkurat passe stor gruppe, der alle studentene var på veldig likt nivå, noe som ga flyt og driv til undervisninga. Undervisninga var på helt rett nivå, vi måtte alle strekke oss litt for å henge med, samtidig som vi alltid fikk til noe. Skolen er ganske liten, så vi blei godt kjent med studentene i de andre klassene og alle lærerne på skolen.
CILFA was recommended to me by a former colleague of mine who was very pleased both with the school and with her host family, and I am pleased to say I have the same experience. My host family had lots of experience with language students, and they were both very accomodating and very nice. The school held a high academic standard, with a very thorough placement test on the first day, ensuring that we were all accurately placed. Our group was exactly the right size, and we all held pretty much the same level of French. We all had to make an effort, yet we always felt as if we were getting somewhere. The school is quite small, and so we got to know the students from the other groups too, as well as all of the staff. CILFA comes highly recommended.
Le CILFA m’a été recommandé par une ancienne collègue qui a eu de bonnes expériences avec l’école et la famille d’accueil qu’elle a eue. Je peux dire la même chose : je suis restée dans une famille d’accueil très agréable et expérimentée avec les étudiants étrangers. L’école a un niveau académique élevé, avec un test de placement approfondi le premier jour. Nous étions juste dans le bon groupe, où tous les étudiants étaient à un niveau très similaire. L’enseignement était au bon niveau, notre prof était super. L’école est assez petite, nous avons donc fait connaissance avec les élèves des autres classes et tous les enseignants de l’école.
I decided to study at CILFA after initially studying in Chamonix the Winter before and had been told by other students that it was a really good school and course, and had been better than other schools in the area. I also loved Annecy as a region and was keen to live with a family known to the school to really experience life in Annecy and to also help improve my french as much as possible, as I was aiming to try and pass my B2 at some point in the future so I could work in France as a physiotherapist. After 3 months at CILFA doing the daily classes, Wednesday afternoon social classes, and evening classes for the exam preparation, I passed my B2 exam at the end of the semester. All the teachers at CILFA are great, and I can’t thank them enough. The family I stayed with were amazing. They made me feel part of the family, and were a huge help with improving my french, as well as making me feel very welcome, and we are still in contact now. I would recommend CILFA to anyone who is serious about improving their French, especially for passing the DELF exams as they prepare you very well for the structure and process of the exams.
J’ai décidé d’étudier au CILFA après avoir étudié à Chamonix l’hiver d’avant. D’autres étudiants m’avaient dit que c’était vraiment une très bonne école et de très bons cours et que c’était mieux que d’autres écoles dans le coin. J’ai aussi adoré la région d’Annecy et je souhaitais vivre dans une famille d’accueil proposée par l’école pour vivre réellement la vie à Annecy et aussi pour améliorer mon français autant que possible, étant donné que je voulais essayer et réussir l’examen du DELF B2 à un moment donné dans le futur pour pouvoir travailler en France comme kinésithérapeute. Après 3 mois de cours du matin au CILFA, d’activités pédagogiques les mercredis après-midi et de cours du soir de préparation aux examens, j’ai réussi l’examen du DELF B2 à la fin du semestre. Tous les professeurs du CILFA sont super et je ne les remercierai jamais assez. La famille chez qui j’habitais était incroyable. Ils ont fait en sorte que je me sente dans la famille et ont été d’une très grande aide pour progresser en français mais aussi pour que je me sente très bien accueillie. Nous sommes toujours en contact actuellement. Je recommande le CILFA à tous ceux qui veulent vraiment améliorer leur français, en particulier pour réussir les examens du DELF car ils vous préparent très bien pour la méthodologie et le déroulement des examens.
I attended CILFA for the first six months of 2018. I had no French when I arrived and was pretty much a complete beginner. I was incredibly impressed with the education that CILFA provided and was very happy with experience. The teachers were professional, understanding, PATIENT, and extremely thorough. Lots of ex-pats I associated with whilst in France tried to learn French through once or twice a week private lessons and if you take that path you should allow 4-5 years to become fluent and lots of people gave up learning because they felt like they were not making in progress. At CILFA you can estimate that it will take you twelve months to reach fluency and the people do not drop out because they feel like they are making progress. I must warn you that this will be one of the most challenging things you will do in your life but if you are like me it will also be one of the most rewarding.
CILFA is the perfect partner to go on this incredibly rewarding journey with, I couldnt recommend them more highly.
